Athens, WV – The Glenville State Pioneer basketball team fell to Concord University Monday night on the road by a final score of 65-79.
The Pioneers got down early in the first half but managed to cut the lead to five points at the 9:15 mark after Octavius Hinnant hit two free throws, but Concord eventually built their lead back to 13 points as they headed into halftime with a 26-39 lead.
In the second half GSC could only cut the Mountain Lions lead to 10 as Concord cruised to 14 point home win 65-79.
The Pioneers were outscored in the paint by the Mountain Lions 38-12. GSC was also out rebounded 40-33.
The Pioneers shot well from behind the three point line as they went 8 for 15 for 53 percent while Concord went 7 for 19 for only 36 percent.
Jamel Morris scored a game high 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds for GSC. Andy Dollman scored 11 points. Nate Cash grabbed a game high 10 rebounds.
The Mountain Lions were led by Romel Kemp with 22 points. Javaugh Manuel scored 19 points and dished out four assists. Burnell Granderson also scored in double figures for Concord with 12 points.
The Pioneers return to action on Thursday when Bluefield State travels to Glenville. Game time is set for 7:30 PM.
