’73 Football team reunites in Glenville

Since 1973, thousands of students have attended Glenville State College. After college, they choose a pathway that take them in separate directions. For many of them, it is only possible to keep in contact with a tight knit group of friends. It is extremely rare that that close knit group of friends consists of an entire football team. However, that is exactly the case for the 1973 NAIA Division II national runner up Glenville State College Pioneers. This past Friday evening, I had the privilege [...]

Pioneers squeak by Bobcats

Pioneers squeak by Bobcats

The only thing hotter than the heat this past Saturday was the Wesleyan passing attack against the Pioneer defense. However, the Pioneers were able to battle the temperature and a late surge from the Bobcats to hang onto a narrow 35-32 homecoming day victory Saturday at Morris Stadium. After obtaining an early 28-0 lead, it seemed too many in attendance that the Pioneers were well on their way to a very easy victory. Although Wesleyan scored a touchdown late in the first half it seemed [...]

Fall Sports Underway

Fall Sports Underway

This past weekend proved to be a big one for the athletic teams of Glenville State College. The football team made the trip to Virginia Military Institute to take on the Division I-FCS Keydets. Although VMI expected the Pioneers to be just an easy opening game for the Keydets, the Pioneers went into the game with plans of their own. At the end of regulation, the Pioneers found themselves trailing 34-27. As if that was not close enough, the Pioneers also found themselves just one [...]

The program got its start last year under the watchful eyes of Dr. Melody Wise, Professor Melissa Gish,  and [...]
