As the semester slowly winds down to a closing, the Student Activities Committee will be helping host GSC Week. During this week, there will be tons of things for everyone to do. Pioneers Hosted 5th Annual Brandi Bowen Invitational

Four years ago, Glenville State College lost two of their finest young athletes due to a tragic automobile accident.  Kyle Puffenberger, a freshman who was a redshirt defensive back on the Pioneer Football team and Brandi Bowen, a sophomore, who ran track and cross-country.  Both Kyle and Brandi were not only standout athletes, but they were also amazing people.   For those of us who had the pleasure of knowing them and the honor of having them as a friend, we will always have wonderful memories [...]

            The Pioneers defeated the Shepherd University Rams on Tuesday night in the first round of tournament play. In the first half, the teams exchanged baskets until the buzzer sounded for halftime with Glenville State up by three, 41-38. The University of Charleston Golden Eagles came out on top in a two point victory against the Glenville State College Men’s Basketball Team. It was a bucket to bucket affair in the early minutes of the first half, but with 11:00 minutes to play before halftime, the Golden Eagles went on a very strong run to pull their lead ahead by 19, 33-14. After picking up their 18th straight win of the season on the road against the University of Charleston Golden Eagles this past Monday, the Glenville State Lady Pioneers took home the WVIAC regular-season title. The Lady Pioneers picked up yet another win on Monday when they traveled to take on the Lady Cats of the University of Pitt-Johnstown. In the first half, Ashleigh Fossett hit the first bucket of the game, putting the Lady Pioneers ahead, 3-0. It wasn’t long before UPJ went on a 7-0 run leaving the Pioneers behind, 12-5. The Pioneers suffered another very tough road loss, this time to the University of Pitt-Johnstown, 74-85. In the first half, the Pioneers took awhile to get their flow going, while in the process UPJ built a five point lead on them 7-2.         On Monday, the Glenville State Lady Pioneers hit the road to Athens, West Virginia to take on the Lady Lions of Concord University. With Glenville already ranked first in the WVIAC, they were everyone’s pick for this game. On Monday, the Fairmont State Falcons took on the Lady Pioneers in what was a fight to the finish. It was bucket to bucket for most of the first half, before the Pioneers took a seven point lead right before the half, 47-40.
