FAFSA Reminder

FAFSA Reminder

Tax season is one of the most hectic times of the year as everyone needs to make sure that all the numbers have been crunched right, all important documents are signed in the right places, and nothing is out of place. This is even more hectic for college students who are working on their Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA for short, as these very documents are vital for further education. Students already spend hundreds to even thousands of dollars on school materials [...]

Springtime in West Virginia

Springtime in West Virginia

Springtime in West Virginia Even though spring has officially arrived, it seems as though it is taking its sweet time bringing in the warmer temperatures. Lately, if it is not raining, the sun has been shining albeit with some very bone chilling winds, but rest assured, the warm days will soon arrive. With this return of spring weather, I would like to encourage us all to escape from the florescent lit class and dormitory rooms, and see the kind of outdoor adventures available in the [...]

The College Vote

The College Vote

The Necessity of the College Vote   With the tendency of both national parties to practice partisan politics, with each side demonizing the other, it is of no wonder people hesitate to vote. In a country where it seems as though all political decisions are bought and sold to the highest bidder, and big money interests are in charge of the national agenda, it is understandable that people feel jaded when it’s election time. This is true for the average American, and is especially true for college students. [...]

Public Safety: The Solution or the Problem?

Public Safety: The Solution or the Problem?

What’s a more critical issue? Rape or a parking violation? Violence or making sure the doors to a facility are locked? Clearly these are rhetorical questions but you wouldn’t be able to tell by the actions of Glenville’s Public Safety Department. Even here at little Glenville State College some ugly events are happening and the authorities seem to be turning a blind eye. In one of the previous issues I addressed the problem with parking. It is a tedious process that does need attention. However, [...]
