GSC is hosting the annual Music Fest this Thursday at 7:00 P.M. in the Fine Arts Building Auditorium. Several musical groups on campus will be performing including bass ensemble, bluegrass band, chamber singers, concert choir, drum line, flute choir, jazz band, jazz combo, marching band, percussion ensemble, saxophone ensemble, and trumpet ensemble. The Glenville State College Theatre Department will be hosting the play, Murdered to Death, beginning Thursday, November 12, 2015. The play is directed by GSC student Andrew Mattox. Murdered to Death, based on Agatha Christie novels, is a British comedy set in a 1930s English countryside manor. On Thursday, October 15, Glenville State College Fine Arts Department is hosting a Tuba recital by George Palton from Huntington, WV at 7 p.m. Palton is an Adjunct Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at Marshall University. He holds degrees from the University of Kentucky and Bowling Green State University. Palton has won many awards in solo competitions, and is well known throughout the country for his performances.
Humans Versus Zombies (HVZ) signups will take place in the second floor of the Mollohan Building on October 12-16 from 8-4 p.m. HVZ is a game similar to tag. The humans will have nerf guns and can stun zombies whose objective throughout the week is to turn humans by tagging them. The humans will have missions throughout the week. Next week, GSC will be hosting a Scholastic book fair. Sales will take place from September 28-October 2 at the Molohan Center right across from the Rusty Musket. Each day, the fair will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 3 p.m. Profits will go towards the educational honor society, Kappa Delta Pi. The first GSC Improv Night was held on Thursday, August 27. GSC hosted its first Improv Night. Young actors gathered onstage in the President’s Auditorium (AB) under the guidance of Professor Dennis Wemm. A series of games were played out by the night’s participants with some audience participation encouraged.
