Faculty Show Returns to Fine Arts

The first Art Faculty Show in more than 15 years features the work of several members of the Fine Arts Faculty. Artists featured in the show, which runs through February 7, are professors Liza Brenner, Duane Chapman, and Chris Cosner. All students, faculty, and guests are invited to join the artists for the show reception on Monday, January 27 from 5-7 p.m. in the GSC Fine Arts Center. One of these is the annual winter play, which this year was written and directed by Dr. Marjorie Stewart. Senior Art Exhibition

The Fine Arts Center Gallery will be showing the art work of seniors Elora Shock and Sarah Normant. The exhibit will be open November 18 to December 6 from 10am to 2pm Monday through Friday. It will also be open for one hour before any Fine Arts Auditorium events. Elora Shock’s art series is entitled “A Sea of Faces”. Literature Reading

Today, Thursday, November 14, there will be a literature reading by Marjorie Stewart and Jeff Condram at 4p.m. in room 315 of the MCCC. Jeffrey Condram, an Assistant English Professor at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, has published a story collection entitled A Fingerprint Repeated. His first novel, Prague Summer, will be released in the Spring of 2014. Condram has also had some of his fiction published in The Kenyon Review and The Missouri Review. Condram was awarded the 2010 William Peden Prize and nominated for the Pushcart [...]



Jacob Masters to Perform Senior Recital

Jacob Masters to Perform Senior Recital

Jacob Master’s senior recital will be this Friday, November 1 at 7 p.m. Jacob will be singing 13 separate pieces in different languages varying from English, French, Italian and German. Jacob started singing his sophomore year in high school in choir, but has been training seriously the past four years. Jacob’s performance should be astounding and should merit an attendance. The show is expected to last about one hour. Go and support Jacob and enjoy the recital.

GSC Bluegrass to Perform Tribute to Flatt and Scruggs

The GSC Bluegrass Band is performing a tribute to Flatt and Scruggs this Friday beginning at 7 p.m. The show will include 2 sets where in total 20-25 people will be performing most of which are majoring or minoring in the Bluegrass program. However the show will include people from all over the state and even the country. The show is to honor Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, Scruggs past away this past year. Halloween Movie Night at Football Field.

Halloween Movie Night at Football Field.

This Saturday from 7-11 p.m. there will be two Halloween movies showing at the football field plus a Thriller dance instructional video will be showing at the Ike and Sue Morris Stadium on the big screen. Please note that no chairs will be allowed at this event. You may sit on the turf, on blankets, or on the bleachers. The concession stand will be open and the event will have free admission. N’TRANZE- House of Blues Band

N’TRANZE, a band originating from Myrtle Beach, began as the Tony Blunt Project in 1997.  The House of Blues opened in 1997 and the Tony Blunt Project was hired to play on the back porch. Around 2000, Tony Blunt left the band to go on the road and the band became N’TRANZE. There are currently six people in the band including a guitar player, trombone player, keyboard, drums, bass, and our own Jason Barr as the sax player. The show begins tonight at 7 p.m. [...]

Art Exhibit to Show- Paul Hartmann

Paul Hartmann, a professional photographer and artist, will be showing his art the next month in the art gallery in the Fine Arts Building. The exhibit is open from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Much of his work features abstract fragment photography. Then on opening night come to the costume party/reception dressed as your favorite inspirational character with a grand prize being one of Paul Hartmann’s framed photographs.
