Art Exhibit to Show- Paul Hartmann

Paul Hartmann, a professional photographer and artist, will be showing his art the next month in the art gallery in the Fine Arts Building. The exhibit is open from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Much of his work features abstract fragment photography. Then on opening night come to the costume party/reception dressed as your favorite inspirational character with a grand prize being one of Paul Hartmann’s framed photographs. On Friday September 27, 2013 Brittany Lott will be performing her Senior Recital at 7pm in the auditorium at the Fine Arts Building. Brittany has been playing tuba for 10 years. Jace Sherman, of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Guild, has been a fan of is Japanese Chambara, a genre of Samurai films, for several years, and has been collecting the films for a year now. An interesting fact about these films is that they have influenced Western cinema, such as the original Star Wars trilogy was influenced by Akira Kurosawa, and the late 60’s Western films were revolutionized by these movies. The next few weeks the works of Owen Mckenzie and GSC’s Assistant Professor of English, Melissa Gish, will be showing in the art gallery located in the Fine Arts Building. Standup Comedian Lucas Bohn will be here at GSC September 3 at the Rusty Musket from 7-9 p.m. Bohn features a variety of real life examples such as going to the gym and familiar impersonations like that of Sesame Street’s Elmo in his act to captivate the audience at all times. The Sixth Annual Juried Student Art Show is open in the Fine Arts Building Gallery, following an opening awards reception on March 25. The show includes pencil sketches, paintings, ceramics, and metal works and, in my opinion, most of the works were well done and, in a word, fascinating.
