West Virginia Community Theatre Festival

Glenville State College will be hosting the annual West Virginia Theater Festival on October 13 from 9 a.m-7 p.m. in the Fine Arts auditorium. This competition will help choose the winning theater from the state of West Virginia to go on to perform at the festival that will be held at Louisville, Kentucky at the Southeastern Theatre Conference. West Virginia Symphony coming to Glenville

The West Virginia Orchestra will be playing at Glenville State College on September 28 in the auditorium at the Fine Arts Building. The orchestra will be playing the classical works of Ludwig Von Beethoven. Award-Winning Poet, Andrea Hollander Budy Award winning poet Andrea Hollander Budy will give a reading and a poetry writing workshop on October 3 and 4. Budy is the author of four full-length poetry collections: Landscape with Female Figure: New & Selected Poems, 1982-2012; Women in the Painting; The Other Life; and House Without a Dreamer. Why would vampires, werewolves, and zombies visit GSC of all places? Billy Burke, a Gilmer County native and Glenville State graduate, had a book signing last Wednesday at the Robert F. Kidd Library from 12-2 p.m. Burke’s book, Billy B. On November 14, the campus was in for something unique for their latest art show. This time they got to look at wood fired sculptures of heads done by sculptor Cherese Weaver. She is from Lookout, West Virginia, and owns her own gallery called Midland Trail Gallery. This was her first solo art show but has some of her pieces at Tamarack Art Gallery in Beckley.
