So to all GSC students, remember when your Finals are and study really hard for them because once the tests are done, we can all enjoy a good few months in Paradise.</p>

Those who attend will get a copy of the Trillium to keep forever; so they could read it as much as they want to. The event will take place in the Multi-purpose Room on the third floor of the Mollohan Center at 4 p.m. and everyone is welcome to attend. So listen to the thousand words from within the Trillium and get a copy to enjoy.</p>

The GSC band will perform songs such as “Emperata Overture” , “Gettysburg”, and “Caribbean Fantasy”,  followed with a world premier composition done by the GSC Jazz Band Director and Assistant Professor of Music Education, Dr. David Lewis.  One of the works in the concert shall feature Harry Rich, one of GSC’s Faculty Emeriti .  He was a music professor at GSC for twenty years before retiring in 2004, and is now an adjunct professor who teaches students how to play the trumpet.  Rich will have a trumpet solo during the concert and will play “Charlier Etude No. Two”,  a music piece that was arranged by a GSC music education graduate, Jared Young.</p>
<p>The concert will be held on Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Fine Arts Building and there are no admissions, but donations are welcome.  For more information on the concert, you can contact Sheri Skidmore at <a href="mailto:sheri.skidmore@glenville.edu">sheri.skidmore@glenville.edu</a>. So take a break from the studying and come hear the music that will be perform by the GSC’s very own band and let your mind relax.</p>

Everyone is welcome to join in on these trips, as it is all for beginners and for those who wish to experience the thrill of either white water rafting and/or sky diving.  For more information, you can ask David Brenier adviser to The High Adventure Program at his office in the Physical Education Building or contact the Fitness Center in the Mollohan Center.  So come on out and aim for that rush of adrenaline or for that once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience something great.</p>

<p>On Friday May 19th at 11:00 a.m. 25 Glenville State College (GSC) students  continued the beautification project that was started  in 2008.  This project was initiated with the planting of the first of what soon will be thousands of trees on the mountainside that was moved to extend the runway by 1,000 ft.</p>
<p>This year 25 students representing two groups, the Student Government Association, led by President Travis Nesbitt, and a dozen members of the Science Fiction Fantasy Guild, “teamed-up to green-up” Yeager Airport.  By way of entertainment, the Guild was wearing costumes that included trees, a bear, a pony, a lady bug, and the recycled outfits created for GSC’s April 16th Junque Funk Fashion Show—the purpose of which was to draw attention to the amount of waste we generate and the need to recycle it.<br />
Students will gather at 10:45 at or near the terminal entrance, with planting to take place from 11:00-12:30.<br />
For more information contact Mike Plante at 304-345-2243 or mike@planteandassociates.com</p>

The recital is a requirement for all music majors that are taking an applied instrumental course here at GSC with most students performing a single piece. Although the event is not usually advertised, people are welcome to attend the recital, as it is open to the public with no admission to be charged, so anyone can attend. This recital will be held in the Recital Hall in the Fine Arts Building at 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. this coming Monday, April 22. From vases made from painted glass bottles to even a dress made entirely out of trading cards, the fashion show was really good. There was even a checkers game made of a pizza box and bottle caps as well as artwork done on parts of the pizza box on display. During the fashion show, a presentation will be given about how going green can benefit the planet, as well as to show the results of pollution and offer helpful tips of how being green is essential.<a href="http://www.glenville.edu/phoenix/?attachment_id=2108" rel="attachment wp-att-2108"><img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-2108" alt="Junk Records (1024x768) (800x600)" src="http://www.glenville.edu/phoenix/wp-content/uploads/Junk-Records-1024x768-800x600-150x150.jpg" width="150" height="150" /></a> At the show, Tiffany Carper, a student here at GSC, has made a dress entirely out of trading cards from Magic: The Gathering Trading Card Game.  This is made complete with plastic garbage bags, and a bow made of plastic bottle wrappings, all tied together with a hand fan made of trading cards, popsicles sticks and duct tape to add that flare to the dress. The dress will be displayed during the tree planting at the Yeager Airport to help promote the practice of going green. I myself have to say that the dress itself was wonderful and it showed the amount of dedication that one can take when protecting the planet. So help out during Earth Day by recycling and finding unique ways of using those empty bottles and boxes around your home by turning them into something memorable.<a href="http://www.glenville.edu/phoenix/?attachment_id=2109" rel="attachment wp-att-2109"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2109" alt="Card Dress (600x800)" src="http://www.glenville.edu/phoenix/wp-content/uploads/Card-Dress-600x800-225x300.jpg" width="225" height="300" /></a></p>

<p>Bowen accomplished many achievements throughout her 20 years. As a graduate from Doddridge County High School, she excelled in academics, track, cross-country, and basketball. She attended Glenville State on academic and athletic scholarships; Bowen was also the first female Coach Cam Perry ever signed to his team. As a freshman at GSC, Bowen finished ninth at the WVIAC meet in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, 12th in the 1,500 meter run, and 15th in the 800 meter run.</p>
<p>On Friday, April 12th at the Morris Stadium the Glenville State College track team hosted its 5th annual Brandi K. Bowen Memorial meet. The meet featured several schools such as West Virginia Wesleyan College, University of Charleston, and Bethany College, along with the Pioneers themselves. The Glenville State College track team would like to thank all the students, faculty, and alumni who attended this annual invitational in remembrance of one of Glenville’s brightest track stars. It was with great pride, not only as a Glenville student but also as an athlete, that I could take part in this memorial event to honor Ms. Brandi Bowen.</p>
<p>The meet began at 4:00 starting with field events, followed by running events. All events were timed finals and the meet ran on a rolling schedule. Event results are as follows:</p>
