Band Concert at GSCBy Logan Carpenter | April 25th, 2013 | Category: Arts and Entertainment | No Comments »
With everyone preparing themselves for the upcoming Finals, we all could use a break from the countless hours of tedious studies. That is why the Glenville State College Concert Band will be holding a concert to help everyone relax, take their mind off studying for a while, while the music performed by the band will ease the tired minds. The GSC band will perform songs such as “Emperata Overture” , “Gettysburg”, and “Caribbean Fantasy”, followed with a world premier composition done by the GSC Jazz Band Director and Assistant Professor of Music Education, Dr. David Lewis. One of the works in the concert shall feature Harry Rich, one of GSC’s Faculty Emeriti . He was a music professor at GSC for twenty years before retiring in 2004, and is now an adjunct professor who teaches students how to play the trumpet. Rich will have a trumpet solo during the concert and will play “Charlier Etude No. Two”, a music piece that was arranged by a GSC music education graduate, Jared Young.
The concert will be held on Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Fine Arts Building and there are no admissions, but donations are welcome. For more information on the concert, you can contact Sheri Skidmore at firstname.lastname@example.org. So take a break from the studying and come hear the music that will be perform by the GSC’s very own band and let your mind relax.
