The next few weeks the works of Owen Mckenzie and GSC’s Assistant Professor of English, Melissa Gish, will be showing in the art gallery located in the Fine Arts Building. The official opening of the show is September 9 from 5-7 p.m. However the art is currently available for viewing Monday – Friday between the hours of 10 a.m to 2 p.m. until September 30.
Mckenzie utilizes skillful penwork to display his ideas and how he perceives the world onto paper. His work ranges from religion to power plants, soldiers, sex workers, and does contain some nudity which may not be appropriate for all audiences. Owen says “I make, arrange, and keep moving. That is the nature of the work, a tap code out to the audience, a continuous signal:”
Gish on the other hand organizes other’s trash into unique and beautiful pieces of art. She uses common everyday items that most people would just look at and throw away and gets a vision for a new masterpiece. Her art will capture your eye and make you search every detail.
