Freddie Simpson MemorialBy Mary Lewis | October 10th, 2013 | Category: Features | No Comments »
In the fall of 2011, Glenville State College suffered the loss of a new but well loved student. Frederick “Freddie” Simpson was an avid Boy Scout and became involved with the Science Fiction and Fantasy Guild. Early in his first semester he had a panic attack and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. Sadly, he died on the way. Robert Hensley, president of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Guild, said, “I knew Freddie personally. He was the first person I talked to during our freshmen orientation.” In memory of Freddie, PSST and the SFFG are hosting a game of Human v. Zombies, where donations are being taken in order to start a student fund in his memory.
T-shirts are being sold for $8, and all proceeds will be put in the fund. Anyone can play without making a donation or buying a t-shirt, and anyone can make a donation or buy a t-shirt without playing.
Signups for the game are in the corner of the Musket. The game will be played Saturday, October 26 from 9a.m. to 12p.m., with a break for lunch, and then from 1p.m. to 4p.m.
