The GSC Bluegrass Band is performing a tribute to Flatt and Scruggs this Friday beginning at 7 p.m. The show will include 2 sets where in total 20-25 people will be performing most of which are majoring or minoring in the Bluegrass program. However the show will include people from all over the state and even the country. The show is to honor Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, Scruggs past away this past year. There will be Flatt and Scruggs memorabilia and great music.
Flatt and Scruggs joined together to make an American Bluegrass Band in 1948 after Flatt left the Bill Monroe Band. They joined up with The Foggy Mountain Boys and played together clear up until 1969.
Admission is $5.50 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-11 and under 5 is free. You may get in free as a student if you show your Student I.D. The entire show should last just under two hours. During the show Coffee and Biscuits will be served in the traditional Martha White Style. Megan Darby, Bluegrass director, says that any and all support is greatly appreciated. All proceeds go towards the Bluegrass program.
