Warm Weather AdventuresBy Tara Grieco | April 17th, 2014 | Category: Lead Story, Sports | No Comments »
The weather is warming up and it is time to start thinking about getting outside. GSC’s High Adventure is the perfect place to start. Visit High Adventure’s Facebook page.
The High Adventure program will take you to new heights – literally. Take in the beauty of West Virginia from the back of a horse, from atop a mountain peak, or from the door of a plane before you take the plunge and skydive. The High Adventure program can give you a taste of the real adventure of our rural state, and plans excursions throughout the academic year.
Upcoming trips are:
Rock Climbing NRG Trip on Sunday, April 27
Skydiving Trip on Saturday, May 3
Whitewater Rafting NRG Trip on Sunday, May 4
Trips with High Adventure vary in cost, depending on the activity and the length of the trip. You can pay one fee for the semester, which guarantees you a spot on at least eight excursions over the course if one semester, or you can pay per adventure. All equipment is either provided at no cost by High Adventure, or rented on a per trip basis.
Either way, we make it easy!
Their mission is to provide GSC students and the greater GSC community with quality outdoor experiences that ultimately promote personal enrichment and community enhancement. Through well-organized outdoor adventures, participants will have the opportunity to develop life-long recreational and leadership skills, enhance their abilities to work with others, and gain an appreciation for the natural environments in which we live. Participants of all skill levels are welcome and encouraged to take part
The High Adventure program at Glenville State College makes it possible for everyone on campus to get out and enjoy the outdoors and take part in wild adventures that are both enjoyable and challenging. During the summer and fall months students can experience the thrills of hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, mountain biking, fly fishing, whitewater kayaking and rafting, and horseback riding. Activities are open to all students on campus and are built to be enjoyable, educational, and challenging for beginners as well as experienced outdoor lovers! Also, students are encouraged to serve as leaders and guides within the program!
Those who have already experienced the wonders of recreating outdoors can attest to the amazing benefits of spending time outside. Integrate wilderness and outdoor activities into your life and you’ll be raving about the benefits! Such experiences not only promote a healthy lifestyle rich in adventure and fun, but also encourage a sense of connectedness to place and enhance relationships with those around us.
