Today's world, fueled by a
global economy, is far more competitive than
at any time in history. After over 125 years
of distinguished service in public higher
education, the role of Glenville State
College is more strategic and critical to
the future of central West Virginia than
ever before. Increased tuition costs and
less federal and state funding assistance
poses a formidable challenge for small
schools like Glenville and the students who
seek an education.
Today, costly but impressive technology
provides options for learning that were not
even considered in years past. These
dynamics, together with the impact of
inflation over the years make the the cost
of college a tremendous burden on families
that earn an average wage. The gift of an
education does pay untold dividends for the
individual, the college, and society in
