Land Resources Students Participate in Hose Testing with the GCVFD
Students within the Glenville State College Department of Land Resources’ Fire Protection course teamed up with the Gilmer County Volunteer Fire Department and the West Virginia Division of Forestry recently for training on the engine pumps and hoses used to protect structures and forested areas from devastating wildfires.
Glenville State Students Pass Fundamentals of Surveying Exam
The Fundamentals of Surveying exam is generally the first step in the process to becoming a professional licensed surveyor. Two current Glenville State College students, Jacob Petry and Asa Dick, recently passed the exam on their first take.

Glenville State College will begin offering a new certificate program this fall. The new Certificate in Right-of-Way was developed in partnership with the Right-of-Way Division of West Virginia’s Division of Highways.

The Glenville State College Department of Land Resources, the GSC Foundation, and the United States Forest Service (USFS) have partnered to offer internship opportunities for students within the Natural Resource Management program. An agreement was signed between the institutions to formalize this year’s initiative.
Wildlife Management Major Coming to GSC
The Glenville State College Department of Land Resources will offer a Wildlife Management major within their Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management Program beginning fall 2020.
GSC Department of Land Resources Receives EQT Grant
The Glenville State College Department of Land Resources has received a $15,000 grant from the EQT Foundation to help promote science education within high schools in West Virginia through the GSC Natural Resource Management High School Program.
