Sheri Goff, Financial Aid Counselor, has been named the 2024 Staff Employee of the Year.

Nominations for the award described Goff as “kind,” “thoughtful,” and “having unwavering dedication.”  She has impressed many around campus with her positive attitude and friendly demeanor. A co-worker notes that she volunteers to cover Saturdays and evening work assignments when her colleagues are unavailable due to personal responsibilities. She continually strives to learn more about her job duties so she can serve the students of Glenville State University in a way that provides a positive interaction – even when the guidelines require her to deliver bad news.

Growing up in Glenville, Goff is a graduate of Gilmer County High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in both Management and Accounting and an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Glenville State College in 2004. She is the third person in West Virginia and, as of May 10, 2024, one of only 649 individuals across the country to be awarded the Certified Financial Aid Administrator (FAAC®) national certification. She originally came to Glenville State in 2007 as the Administrative Secretary for the Department of Fine Arts, then moved to Financial Aid as the Financial Aid Assistant II in 2017. She moved to the Financial Aid Counselor position in 2019.

“My favorite part of working at GSU is watching the students grow and seeing them go out to have successful careers, knowing that I had some small part of helping them along the way” Goff said. “I have also been blessed with amazing work families in my time at Glenville State. The staff, faculty, students and alumni are what make this the best place to work.”

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She claims to have a “small plant addiction” and enjoys her indoor plants and outdoor flowers.

Goff becomes the 35th recipient of the staff recognition award that has been presented at Glenville State since 1986. Names of the honorees are displayed on a permanent plaque in the Heflin Administration Building.
