The Glenville State University Department of Public Safety strives to provide the students, faculty, staff, and community a safe and healthy environment in which to live, grow, learn and work. The GSU Public Safety Office is located in the Health and Physical Education Building.

Counseling Center
Free and confidential counseling is available through the Glenville State University Student Life Counseling Center. Counseling is provided by a Licensed Professional Counselor who is further certified as a Clinical Addictions Counselor and Nationally Certified Gambling Counselor. The Counseling Center is located at 137 Mollohan Center, to the right of the 1st floor elevator.

Emergency Information
When there is an emergency on campus, the GSU website is updated, as necessary, with a red emergency banner containing information about the alert. Alerts will also be sent via the campus emergency notification system.

Behavioral Intervention Team
Glenville State University is committed to the safety of its students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) serves as the centralized body for discussion and action regarding students exhibiting aberrant, dangerous, or threatening behavior that might impact the safety or well-being of the campus community.
Team members are committed to improving community safety through a proactive, collaborative, coordinated, objective, and thoughtful approach to violence prevention and supportive interventions.
If you observe any behavior that is concerning and that needs to be brought to the attention of the BIT, you may report the behavior using the BIT Referral Form.

Campus Carry
On July 1, Senate Bill 10, the Campus Self-Defense Act, will take effect in West Virginia. Passed by the West Virginia Legislature in 2023, the Campus Self-Defense Act allows a person to carry a concealed pistol or revolver on the grounds of an institution of higher education, with some exceptions, if that person has a current and valid license to carry a concealed deadly weapon.
