Get fit at the GSC Fitness Center!

Join your friends in building and maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle at the Fitness Center located in the Mollohan Campus Community Center on the Ground Floor. The Fitness Center provides a contemporary and upbeat atmosphere, which gives the campus community the opportunity to enhance their overall well-being.

The facility is equipped with a vast array of cardiovascular and strength training equipment. The cardio area is composed of Life Fitness treadmills, cross-trainers, stair climbers and lifecycles. The strength training area is composed of Life Fitness and Nautilus selectorized equipment and a multitude of free weight equipment. A variety of group exercise classes are offered, and a pool is also available.

Membership

GSC Fitness Center membership is open to faculty, staff, students and the community. Fees are as follows and can be paid at the cashier's window or in the fitness center:

  • College Students: Free
  • High School Students: $20 per month
  • Faculty/Staff: Free
  • Faculty/Staff Family: $60 per semester
  • Community: $30 per month
  • Community Family: $40 per month
  • Daily rate (single day access to all facilities including classes): $5

Note: The Waco Center Fitness Center will be closed during any home contests when McPherson Court is in use.

Classes

Monday: 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.: Beginners Yoga

This class introduces foundational yoga postures, teaches you how to breath and helps you feel more comfortable in the yoga practice. The beginner class introduces the fundamental principles of alignment and breath work in a flow of postures linked together by the breath. Students will be introduced to yoga postures through step-by-step verbal description and demonstration. Emphasis is placed on student understanding, safety, and stability within each pose. Gradually these poses will be linked together into a gentle flowing sequence. If you have never tried yoga this is the class for you, designed to meet the needs of those new to yoga as well as those seeking continued understanding of yoga poses. All levels welcome as modifications will be offered for all levels. Students are welcome to repeat this class as often as they like.

Tuesday: 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.: Energizing Flow

This all-levels-welcome class is designed to wake the body up and get the blood moving before the day really begins. Expect to sweat in this class as we flow through warm-ups, vinyasas, standing postures, inversions, backbends, twists, and a long, delicious cool-down. Modifications will be offered for all levels, so beginners and seasoned practitioners alike will find this class to be attainable and rewarding.

Friday: 12:00 p.m. to 12:25 p.m.: Gentle Restorative Flow

This all-levels-welcome class is designed to gently stretch and open the body while calming the mind and easing tension in all areas of the body. This extremely slow paced class will not leave you sweaty before you have to return to work. Expect to move through some slow warm-ups before moving into yummy restorative postures with props that allow gravity to do all the work for you as you just breathe and relax. Transition from the work week to the weekend with a more clear and calm perspective!

Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.: Power Yoga

A vigorous and challenging style of yoga designed to build strength, balance and flexibility designed to wake you up and get you ready for the day. Each class is based upon a Vinyasa flow including inversions, twists, standing poses and core work. Be ready to move, sweat and feel vibrantly alive at the end of class! A Power Vinyasa based class for ALL students — from beginners to advanced yogis. Instructor will offer modification options throughout the class to increase or decrease the intensity depending on each student’s ability.

All yoga classes are FREE to all GSC members. Non-GSC members, please see rates above for gym memberships. Equipment is provided for Yoga classes however it is recommended that you bring your own mat for sanitary reasons.

Fitness Center Orientation

A Fitness Center Orientation provides an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the Fitness Center equipment. A Fitness Center Staff Member will provide a brief tour of the facility and demonstrate how to properly use each machine.

Orientations are free to students and members.

Usage Policies

  • All members and visitors must check in at the front desk.
  • All members and visitors must fill out a membership form and a health questionnaire.
  • Proper workout attire must be worn in the center.
  • Please wipe feet before entering center.
  • Disturbances and excessive noise will not be tolerated.
  • Music selections must not contain profanity or offensive lyrics.
  • Leave all bags and unused belongings in a cubby hole or locker.
  • Users are responsible for cleaning up their own weights and equipment after use.
  • Tobacco related products are prohibited.
  • Fitness Center treadmills

Safety Guidelines

For your safety while participating in resistance training or cardiovascular activities, please observe the following guidelines.

  • Do all exercises in a controlled manner.
  • Use spotters when doing exercises that involves the use of free weights.
    • Benching
    • Squatting
    • Others involving heavy weights
  • Wear appropriate exercise clothing while participating in fitness center activities.
  • Report broken or damaged equipment.
  • Report injuries to the fitness center staff.
  • Wipe down all equipment after use.
