Buckhannon, WV – The Glenville State men’s basketball team season comes to an end tonight after they fell to the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats on the road in the WVIAC Tournament first round, 43-66.
The Bobcats quickly jumped out to a 7-0 lead and would eventually build on that lead as they pushed it to 14 points, 6-20, at the 11:13 mark.
The Pioneers cut the Bobcats lead to nine points, 13-22, at the 7:57, but WVWC took a 14 point lead into halftime 23-37.
In the second half, the Pioneers tried to cut into the Bobcats lead but would only get as close as nine points at the 15:55 mark as West Virginia Wesleyan would advance to the WVIAC Tournament second round with a 43-66 win over the Pioneers.
Both teams had very little turnovers however; the Bobcats scored 24 to 5 points off of the Pioneers turnovers. West Virginia Wesleyan also held an advantage in the paint as they outscored the Pioneers 26 to 12.
Jamel Morris and Mark Walker each totaled eight points for the Pioneers in the game. Walker also grabbed seven rebounds. Kevin Gray added seven points while Nate Cash accounted for nine boards.
Raymont McElroy scored 24 points for the Bobcats. Colby Wohlleb and Reggie Chambers each accounted for 14 points.
With the loss the 2011-12 Pioneers basketball season comes to an end. We would like to congratulate the Pioneers seniors for their great careers at GSC and the best of luck in the future.
