GSC Distinguished Business Students Announced

Glenville, WV – The Glenville State College Department of Business faculty have announced the distinguished business student award recipients for the 2011-2012 academic school year.

Business Department Chair Dr. Chuck Batson welcomes students, professors, and guests to the awards ceremony.

“I am very proud of these students’ achievements. The GSC Department of Business faculty, staff, and I are also very proud that we had a part in preparing them to reach their career goals,” said GSC Department of Business Chair Dr. D. Charles Batson.

Krystle Bailey, a senior Business Management and Sports Management major, received a Distinguished Business Student Award. Bailey is from Ripley, West Virginia in Jackson County.

Greg Brewster, a junior Computer and Information Systems major, received a Distinguished Business Student Award. Brewster is from Waynesboro, Pennsylvania.

Justin Brown, a senior Accounting/Management/Marketing major with a Nonprofit Leadership and Management minor, received the Outstanding Accounting Student Award and Best Strategic Planning and Management Service Learning Team Leader Award. Brown is from Glenville, West Virginia in Gilmer County.

Charles Dodrill, a freshman Marketing and Business Management major, received the Highest Freshman Major Field Test Score Award. Dodrill is from St. Albans, West Virginia in Kanawha County.

Racheal Fetty, a senior Accounting and Management major, received a Distinguished Business Student Award. Fetty is from Spencer, West Virginia in Roane County.

Lora Gray, a senior Marketing major, received the Outstanding Marketing Student Award. Gray is from Coxs Mills, West Virginia in Gilmer County.

Brian Griffith, a senior Accounting and Management major received the Highest Senior Major Field Test Score Award. Griffith is from Winfield, West Virginia in Putnam County but now resides in Glenville, West Virginia in Gilmer County.

Karen Griffith, who earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Management degree and a minor in Accounting from GSC in December 2011, received the Best Strategic Management and Planning Service Learning Team Leader Award. Griffith is from Orange Park, Florida but now resides in Glenville, West Virginia in Gilmer County.

Stephany Harper, a senior Accounting and Management major, received a Distinguished Business Student Award. Harper is from Little Birch, West Virginia in Braxton County.

James Higgins, a senior Business and Forestry major, received a Distinguished Business Student Award. Higgins is from Washington, West Virginia in Wood County.

Nicole Himes, a senior Sports Management major, received the Outstanding Sport Management Student Award. Himes is from Harpers Ferry, West Virginia in Jefferson County.

Tiffany Johnson, a senior Computer and Information Systems major, received the Outstanding Computer Science Student Award. Johnson is from Walkersville, West Virginia in Lewis County.

Barbara King, a sophomore Management major with a Nonprofit Leadership and Management minor, received the Best Applied Business Communications Service Learning Team Award. King is from Glenville, West Virginia in Gilmer County.

Stephanie Legg, who earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Management degree from GSC in December 2011, received a Distinguished Business Student Award. Legg is from Charleston, West Virginia in Kanawha County but now resides in Burnsville, West Virginia in Braxton County.

Andrew Metheney, a senior Accounting and Management major, received a Distinguished Business Student Award. Metheney is from Grantsville, West Virginia in Calhoun County.

Melissa Pursley, a senior Accounting and Management major with a Nonprofit Leadership and Management minor, received a Distinguished Business Student Award. Pursley is from Mineral Wells, West Virginia in Wood County.

Rachel Ramezan, a senior Marketing and Management major, received the Outstanding Intern Award. Ramezan is from Glenville, West Virginia in Gilmer County.

Virginia ‘Lisa’ Riffle, a senior Business Education major, received the Best Applied Business Communications Service Learning Team Award and Outstanding Business Education Student Award. Riffle is from Copen, West Virginia in Braxton County.

Kayla Miller Roop, a senior Accounting and Marketing major with a Nonprofit Leadership and Management minor, received a Distinguished Business Student Award. Roop is from Mount Zion, West Virginia in Calhoun County.

Leandra Sears, who earned an Associate Degree in Business, received the Outstanding Two-Year Student Award. Sears is from Duck, West Virginia in Clay County.

Chad Stricklin, a senior Management Major with a History minor, received the Best Applied Business Communications Service Learning Team Award. Stricklin is from Spencer, West Virginia in Roane County.

Christopher Viers, is a 2 + 2 December 2011 graduate majoring in Management and Forest Technology, received a Distinguished Business Student Award. Viers is from Washington, West Virginia.

Kyle Warner, a senior Accounting and Management major, received a Distinguished Business Student Award. Warner is from Gassaway, West Virginia in Braxton County.

Robert Woods, a senior Accounting and Management Major with a Nonprofit Leadership and Management minor, received a Distinguished Business Student Award. Woods is from Summersville, West Virginia in Nicholas County but now resides in Glenville, West Virginia in Gilmer County.

Trent Walker, a senior Management major, received the Ernest Smith Award, Best Strategic Management and Planning Service Learning Team Leader Award, and the Outstanding Management Student Award. Walker is from Dawson, West Virginia in Greenbrier County.
