Bluefield, WV – The GSC men’s basketball team pulled off a nice comeback win on the road Thursday night as they defeated Bluefield State 91-82.
The Pioneers feel behind early as Bluefield State took an eight point lead, 20-12 at the 11:27 mark in the first half.
Bluefield would then extend their lead to 13 with only 4:25 left to play till halftime. The Pioneers would head to halftime down by 12 points, 42-30.
In the second half the Pioneers would find their offenses as they would tie the game at 61 all at the 10:35 mark.
GSC would then take their first lead of the game 63-61 when Lamar Mallory had a huge dunk with 9:50 left to go in the game. The Pioneers would never look back as they would take that lead all the way to the end of the game as they pulled off the comeback victory 91-82.
The Pioneers shot 47 percent from the floor while Bluefield shot 41 percent. GSC also scored 20 points off of turnovers.
The Pioneers were led by Lamar Mallory as he scored 22 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as he recorded a double double on the night. Kevin Gray scored 19 points as he drilled five three-pointers.
Joe Ballard scored 14 points and pulled down six rebounds while DJ Blanks scored 12 points and handed out eight assists.
Bluefield State was led by Vincent Rogers as he scored 17 points. Simeon Denny scored 16 points on the night while Daven Morris chipped in with 15 points.
The Pioneers have now won four games in a row and will return to action this Saturday, December 1st when WVIAC foe West Virginia Wesleyan travels to Glenville. Game-time is set for 4:00 pm.
