Glenville, WV - The GSC men’s basketball a team had their four game winning streak snapped by the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats Saturday afternoon, 72-82.
The Pioneers started off quickly as they jumped out to a six point lead, 10-4 at the 16:39 minute mark in the first half.
The Bobcats however would battle back and take a seven point lead into halftime, 30-37.
In the second half the Bobcats caught fire as they would extend their lead 18 points, 37-55 with 14:52 left to play.
The Pioneers would continue to fight as they would claw their way back into the game when Kevin Gray hit a deep three-pointer bringing GSC with six points, 69-75 with under 2:00 minutes to play.
However the Bobcats would make several free throws as they hung on to a 72-82 victory.
GSC would out score the Bobcats in the paint 33 to 24. The Pioneers also scored 20 second chance points while the Bobcats only scored four.
GSC also won the rebounding battle 43 to 27.
Lamar Mallory scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead GSC. Jamel Morris and Kevin Gray both scored 16 points in the game.
DJ Blanks led the team in assists with five in the game.
West Virginia Wesleyan was led by Kelsey Williams as he scored a game high 24 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Noah Cottrill scored 15 points and dished out six assist while Caleb Ashley chipped in with 13 points.
The Pioneers return to action next Saturday, December 8th when they travel to West Liberty. Game time is TBA.
