Pioneers Fall on the Road to West Virginia State

DJ Blanks scored a team high 32 points in a 92-105 loss to West Virginia State

Institute, WV – The GSC Pioneer men’s basketball team dropped a road game to West Virginia State Saturday night, 92-105.

The Pioneers only had two players score in double figures with freshman DJ Blanks leading the way with 32 points while Jamel Morris scored 25 points in the game.

Blanks also handed out a team high seven assists while Morris pulled down a team high five rebounds.

West Virginia State was led by Anton Hutchins with a game high 33 points while Raymon Austin chipped in with 23 points and 12 rebounds.

The Pioneers were out rebounded by the Yellow Jackets 50 to 41. West Virginia State also shot better from the floor than GSC; the Yellow Jackets finished the game shooting 48 percent while the Pioneers finished the game shooting 43 percent.

The Pioneers return to action next Thursday, January 10th when Davis & Elkins travels to Jesse R. Lilly Gymnasium. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
