Lady Pioneers Pull Off Second Half Comeback as They Down D&E 100-92

Kenyona Simmons scored 15 points in the Lady Pioneers victory over Davis & Elkins

Glenville, WV – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers scored 54 points in the second half as they pulled off a comeback win at home to WVIAC foe Davis & Elkins, 100-92.

The Lady Pioneers started off hot in the early minutes of the first half as they built 14 points lead over the Senators, 24-10 with 14:46 left to play till halftime.

However, Davis & Elkins would continue to fight and claw their way back as GSC only led by two after the half, 46-44.

In the second half, Davis & Elkins would continue their good play as they would build their own six point lead at the 12:27 mark, 64-58.

But the Lady Pioneers would prove to be to much as they would go on their own run and walk away with a nice comeback win over the Senators, 100-92.

GSC’s defense caused 27 turnovers and converted them into 29 points.

The Lady Pioneers still managed to pull off the victory despite being out rebounded in the contest. Davis & Elkins also finished with a high shooting percentage on the night.

GSC had four starters score in double figures with Ginny Mills scoring a career and game high of 31 points.

Kenyona Simmons added 15 points in the contest, while Ashleigh Fossett scored 14 points. Kenyell Goodson also chipped in with 10 points.

Jelena Elez handed out a game high eight assists while Latoya Hambrick pulled down a team high six rebounds and also had four steals in the game.

Davis & Elkins was led by Maquasia Ferebee as she scored 19 points while Page Turner scored 16 points.

The Lady Pioneers return to action next Monday, January 14th when they travel to Alderson-Broaddus. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm.
