Glenville, WV – The GSC men’s basketball team picked up a huge overtime victory as they defeated the Seton Hill Griffins, 75-74.
Both teams would struggle offensively in the first half but the Griffins would take a slight lead into halftime, 33-28.
In the second half GSC would take their first lead of the second half, 45-43 as Jamel Morris drained a three at the 12:15 mark.
But Seton Hill would come back and tie it all up at 54 all with 6:15 left to play.
Neither team could pull away as the Pioneers and Griffins headed to overtime tied at 65 all.
In OT both teams would battle back and fourth.
GSC and Seton Hill once again was all tied up at 74 all with 11 seconds to go in the game. However the Pioneers would have one last possession as Lamar Mallory was fouled hard driving to the basket sending him to the free throw line.
After Lamar missed the first he would come back and drill the second one putting the Pioneers up 75-74. The Griffins had one last desperate half court shot but it fell short as GSC would win, 75-74.
The Pioneers won the rebounding battle as they out-rebounded Seton Hill by two, 37-35.
Jamel Morris scored a game high 23 points for GSC while Lamar Mallory scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double double.
Kevin Gray chipped in with 12 points and Joe Ballard scored 10 points.
Seton Hill was led by Malachi Leonard as he scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Pioneers hit the road next as they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan for a huge WVIAC contest on Monday, February 11th. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
