Glenville, W.Va. – The Lady Pioneer softball team swept the Bluefield State Lady Blues on Friday by scores of 9-0 and 5-2.
In the first game of the double header the Lady Pioneers would cruise to a 9-0 lead.
GSC would score five runs in bottom of the second as they took a quick 5-0 lead. The Lady Pioneers would then add four more runs in the bottom of the third as they built a 9-0 lead.
In the top of the fifth inning after three strike outs by Bluefield State the umpires would call the game as GSC won game one, 9-0.
In the second game, GSC would take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first after Kayleigh Huck batted in Carly Caldon and later in the same inning Kayleigh Huck would score off of a Bluefield State error.
But Bluefield State would comeback and tie it up at 2 all in the top of the second inning.
GSC would then later regain the lead after Sam Weaver hit a two run homerun as the Lady Pioneers went up 4-2.
GSC would add another run as they would walk away with a 5-2 victory over Bluefield State.
In game on Carly Caldon went 2 for 2 with 4 RBI’s and scored 2 runs while Carlee Chatron finished with 2 RBI’s.
Sam Weaver pitched 5 innings allowing 3 hits, no runs, and struck out 10 batters.
In the second game, Kayleigh Huck went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and scored a run while Same Weaver finished with a homerun and 2 RBI’s.
Brittany May pitched 3 innings allowing 1 hit, 2 runs, and struck out 5 batters.
They return to action Saturday, March 30th when Concord travels to Glenville. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
