Glenville, W. Va. - Glenville State College President Dr. Peter Barr and Athletic Director Janet Bailey would like to announce the hiring of James Mullins as the new Head Baseball Coach of the Glenville State College Pioneers.
Mullins, a native of St. Georges, Delaware comes to Glenville State after serving two years as an assistant coach for West Virginia State University. This season marks Mullins 7th season coaching.
His first coaching job was the interim head softball coach at Red Lion Christian Academy leading the girls’ softball program to their first ever state tournament appearance.
Mullins other coaching stops include Salem Community College, and Davis & Elkins College.
A 2003 graduate of Hodgson Vo-Tech High School where he lettered in Baseball, and Basketball and set school single season records for hits and runs scored. Mullin’s collegiate career was well traveled beginning at Salem Community College where he played 9 positions for the oaks baseball team and played point guard for the basketball team. Following his time at SCC Jimmy continued to Alcorn State University of the SWAC, and finished his career at West Virginia State University of the WVIAC where he was a role player for Cal Baileys 2007, and 2008 conference championship teams.
Mullins also spent his summers playing for the Nashville Navigators under then the University of Tennessee graduate assistant and current Lipscomb University’s Director of Athletic Operations Bryan Ryman.
Mullin’s graduated from WVSU with a B.A. Regents Degree. He is pursuing a master’s degree in school counseling, and mental health counseling from Marshall University.
“We are very excited about Coach Mullins leading our Pioneer Baseball team and expect great things from him and his team,” stated Athletic Director Janet Bailey.
“I really appreciate the opportunity that Glenville State College has given me and I can’t wait to get started,” stated Head GSC Baseball Coach James Mullins.
We will hold a press conference on Monday, August 5th in the Presidents Auditorium on the campus of Glenville State College at 2:00PM.
Coach Mullins begins his duties on August 1, 2013.
