Normant, who is from Glenville (Gilmer County), West Virginia, will be showcasing a selection of sculptures and paintings. Her sculptures are made out of a variety of materials including glass, wire, and other recycled materials. Normant’s paintings combine different textures and colors to recreate old memories. “I’ve always loved recording a memory by drawing or painting it. I like that if I look at my paintings, I can re-experience and relive memories from my past,” said Normant.

Shock, who is from Rosedale (Gilmer County), West Virginia, will be showcasing portraits using different materials. “I love portraiture so I decided to showcase all the different types of portraits that I have created to represent the differences in people. This series represents that people are physically different but emotionally the same.  This combination is expressed through different objects and colors,” said Shock.
The exhibit is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and one hour before all GSC Fine Arts events. An opening reception for the show will take place on Tuesday, November 19th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

For more information about the exhibit or the art gallery, contact GSC Assistant Professor of Art Liza Brenner at or (304) 462-6346.
