Charleston, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneers went on the road and defeated the University of Charleston Golden Eagles, 90-78, as they win their ninth straight game.
In the first half the Lady Pioneers would jump out to a six point lead, 11-5 over UC, at the 14:08 mark after an Ashleigh Fossett layup.
But Charleston would comeback and knot it up at 13 all at with 10:00 minutes left to play in the first half.
However GSC would take a seven point lead into halftime, 40-33.
In the second half of play Charleston would come out hot early and pull their selves with two points, 48-46 at the 15:42 mark.
However the Lady Pioneers would weather UC comeback and take a 16 point lead, 84-68 with under 5:00 minutes to play in the game.
The Lady Pioneers would go on to win their ninth straight game as they defeated UC by 12 points, 90-78.
The Lady Pioneers defense caused 14 turnovers and also had 10 steals in the game. GSC turned those turnovers into 25 points.
GSC had five ladies score in double figures with Ashleigh Fossett leading the way with 23 points.
Ginny Mills scored 14 points while Keyanne Tate scored 11 points and pulled down five rebounds.
Kenyona Simmons also scored 11 points and Taisa Bristow chipped in with 10 points. Bristow also dished out three assists.
Charleston was lead by Chyress Lockhart as she scored 17 points.
The Lady Pioneers return to action Thursday, January 9th when they travel to Urbana for a huge conference match-up. Both teams enter the game 6-0 in conference. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm.
