Glenville, W.Va. – The #10 Glenville State Lady Pioneers won big over the UVa-Wise Cavaliers on Thursday evening by 23 points, 103-80.
UVa-Wise would jump out to an early seven point lead, 2-9, over the Lady Pioneers but that wouldn’t last long as GSC would then turn their shooting on and go on to a 17 point lead heading into halftime, 53-35.
In the second half it would be all GSC as they would cruise to the victory, 103-80.
The Lady Pioneers defense caused UVa-Wise to turn the ball over 23 times. GSC would go on to score 31 points off of the turnovers.
GSC outscored the Cavaliers in the paint 24 to 10 while GSC also outscored UVa-Wise on second chance points 28 to 14.
Kenyona Simmons led GSC as she scored a game high 21 points, she also pulled down 5 rebounds.
Keyanna Tate scored 12 points and pulled down 8 rebounds, just two away from having a double double, she also had 3 steals. Tasia Bristow chipped in with 11 points and dished out 3 assists.
Ashleigh Fossett and Ginny Mills both scored 9 points on the night.
UVa-Wise was led by Reynesha Archer and Katie Jo Lester as both scored 14 points.
The Lady Pioneers return to actions this Saturday, February 1st when Shepherd University travels to Glenville. Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm.
