The Glenville State College Men’s basketball team lost a tough game to the University of Charleston 69-93, in first round of the Men’s WVIAC Basketball Tournament.
The Pioneers got out to an early led 16-11, but UC went on a 6 point run to end the half 39-49.
The Pioneers never recovered from that. The Pioneers were led by junior Marcus Catney with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Catney went 8 of 19 from the floor on the night. Dusty Mullins chipped in with 11 points. Tony Smith also had a good game scoring 9 points and grabbing a team high 10 rebounds.
The Pioneers shot only 39 percent from the floor while University of Charleston shot 51 percent for the game.
The Golden Eagles had three players score in double figures with Jonathan Liggins scoring 28 points and also dishing out a game high 8 assists.
The loss ends the Pioneers season and WVIAC Tournament hopes, they went 7-21 in Head Coach Stephen Dyes’ first year.
