GSC Men Pull it Out at Home

The Glenville State Men’s basketball team pulled out a close game with Bluefield State 88-83. The Pioneers were down 68-72 with only 4:55 left in the game, that is were Marcus Catney took over.

After Nick Dent hit a three which brought the Pioneers within one, Catney then scored 12 points in a matter of four minutes to help the Pioneers clinch the win.
Nick Dent led all scores on the evening with 28 points; while Catney finished the night with 20 points and also grabbing a team high 6 rebounds.
Aaron Dobson had a good game, he only scored 6 points but hand out a game high 7 assists.
Two other big ups tonight for GSC was the play Ryan Burts, he played great defense and chipped in with 11 points, and Tony Smith, he had his best game yet from coming back from his injury. Tony scored 9 tough points and grabbed 3 rebounds.
Bluefield State was led by Rico Thompson with 27 points and 5 assists. Also for Bluefield State Sean Weatherspoon scored 20 points.
With the win the Pioneers ended an eight game losing streak, they look now to start a winning streak, first on the list, Davis & Elkins, and tipoff is set for 4:00PM at D&E.
