WV Wesleyan lead from start to finish as they waxed the host Pioneers tonight, 89-65 tonight in WVIAC Men’s Action from Lilly Gymnasium. The visiting Bobcats jumped out to a 11-0 lead over the opening 2:32 and never looked back, as GSC would get no closer than 10 points. E.J. Lucas led all scorers with 23 points as he connected on 9 of 14 field goals attempts, while hauling in 10 rebounds.
Pioneers Blown Out By WV Wesleyan
Ryan Hoehner added 15, Neven Zeravica added 14 and Jerel Thomas added 12 as the Bobcats improved to 7-12 Overall and 6-6 in the WVIAC, while avenging a November loss to Glenville.
The Pioneers were paced by 12 points from Anthony Kimble and Dusty Mullins, while they fell to 12-7 overall and 6-6 in the WVIAC.
Glenville would work their way back and find themselves only down 10 points at the break, 43-33. In the opening frame GSC would shoot just 32.4% compared to 60.7% for their counterparts.
Any hopes of a second half comeback were quickly put to rest as WVWC would outscore the Pioneers 27-6 in the opening 8:20 of the half.
For the game Glenville State would shoot just 29.9% compared to 56.7% for Wesleyan. WV Wesleyan would hold a 46-22 advantage on points in the paint and a 22 to seven advantage on fast break points.
The Pioneers return to action this Saturday as they play host to UPJ. Tip Off is 7:30 pm.
