The Glenville State College Lady Pioneers Softball team dropped two home games to Shepherd University on Friday April 23rd, both teams played very tough and very well.
Glenville State had the led 1-0 until the top of the 7th when Courtni Williams hit a 3 run homerun to give Shepherd University the win 1-3. Neither team had much luck hitting the ball tonight. In game one GSC only had 4 hits as a team while Shepherd had 6 hits.
Karly Eskew had a good game she went 2 for 3 and had 1 stolen base, Megan Lessser went 1 for 2, and Stacy Mack went 1 for 2 and also had an RBI. Mandy Parkulo pitched a whole game. Parkulo only gave up 6 hits, 3 runs, and had 4 strikeouts. The Lady Pioneers played well but fell short.
In game two the Lady Pioneers were looking for some revenge, but came up short again. Game two was just as exciting as game one, game two went into extra innings before Shepherd came away with a 1-3 win.
Game two went almost the same as game one GSC only had 4 hits as a team and Shepherd only had 6 hits. Leanne Harris went 2 for 4 and also had a stolen base, Erin Morgan went 1 for 3, and Karly Eskew went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Jessica Fedor pitched all 8 innings she gave up 6 hits, 3 runs, and had no strikeouts. The game was tied until Shepherd scored 3 runs in the top of the 8th and Glenville could only score 1 run in the bottom of the 8th.
The Lady Pioneers will return to action on Saturday at home against Bluefield, it is also Senior day as well, game time is set for 2:00PM.
