The Glenville State College Lady Pioneers Softball team dropped two games to the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets on Wednesday April 14th.
It was the first home game since April 1st for the Lady Pioneers. In game one the Lady Pioneers only managed 2 hits against West Virginia State’s Kelsey Lorraine. Brittany Handley and Raquel Williams were the two that managed to get a hit against Lorraine.
The Lady Pioneers could not find away to get on bass or get around Lorraine. The Lady Pioneers lost game one 0-4.
Pitcher Mandy Parkulo pitched 4 innings allowing 5 hits, 3 runs, and no strikeouts, while freshman Jessica Fedor also pitched 3 innings allowing 2 hits, 1 run, and had 1 strikeout.
Game two went along the same story lines as game one with the Lady Pioneers getting 3 hits in game two.
Erin Morgan, Karly Eskew, and Leanne Harris all had hits in game two. However Harris’s hit was a homerun in the bottom of the 7th inning to inch the Lady Pioneers closer, but that was as close as they got, they fell in game two 1-4.
Jessica Fedor pitched 4 innings allowing 3 hits, 3 runs, and 1 strikeout, also for the Lady Pioneer Mandy Parkulo pitched 1.2 innings allowing 0 hits, 1 run, and no strikeouts.
Overall the Lady Pioneers could not get around State’s pitching, the Lady Pioneers fall to 22-25 overall. In the WVIAC they are currently ranked 7th. They will return to action Saturday April 17th when they travel to West Liberty State University, game time is set for 1:00PM.
