The Glenville State Pioneers fell 49-14 at the hands of Concord University today as the Mountain Lions rolled up 28 first quarter points and took advantage of 7 Pioneer turnovers. Glenville was never able to get on track offensively as they suffered their second conference lost.
Pioneers come up short in Fourth Conference Contest
The Pioneers had trouble establishing a running game against a stout Mountain Lion defense; Joe Mesadiue led the rushing attack with 4 attempts for 72 yards and late touchdown.
Through the air the Pioneers were led by Darold Hughes who went 17 of 32 for 153 yards and 2 interceptions in only one half of play. Backup Gabe Profitt played the second half as he went 6 for 15 for 128 yards and 1 TD.
Jordan Griffin led the Pioneer receiving crops with 5 receptions for 64 yards, while teammate Antwan Stewart also hauled in 5 receptions for 48 yards. Junior Mario Wright only caught 3 receptions but gained 77 yards. Ahkeem Figgs caught the only touchdown pass of the day from Profitt of 14 yards.
The Pioneers defense was led by Donald Marshall with 6 total tackles, while Nate Ingersoll and Clifford Mason both added 4 tackles on the day.
