Pioneer Softball Defeats WJU in 1st Round of WVIAC Tournament

The Lady Pioneers came out of their 1st-round matchup with the Lady Cardinals of Wheeling Jesuit University with a 3-0 victory.  Kayla Shobe hit a 2-run homer to put GSC on the board 2-0, and the Lady Pioneers added another run later to ice it and move on to the next round of the winner’s bracket.

GSC will face the #1 seeded University of Charleston this afternoon at 2:00.

Winning Pitcher: Mandy Parkulo

Losing Pitcher: Shawna Clark

Kayla Shobe gave Glenville State a 2-0 lead, homering in the first inning, scoring lead-off batter Leanne Harris.  Mandy Parkulo struck out 4 Cardinals and allowed only 3 hits in a complete game shut-out.  Karly Eskew added a run for the Pioneers in the seventh batting Amy Carte in from second on a single.
