Duval's Hotdogs

Glenville State College Junior Karl Duval is using the skills he has learned in his business classes to open his own business in the community. Duval’s Dogs To Go is a hot dog stand that opened April 27th. It is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and is set up in the Gil-Co Faith Pharmacy parking lot.

“I always wanted to start my own business, and the GSC Business Department gave me the tools to do so. I also want to thank Gil-Co Faith Pharmacy for allowing me to use their parking lot as my location,” said Duval.

GSC Department of Business Chair Dr. Sherry Jones said, “Karl contributes greatly to our GSC business programs and organizations. He is a perfect example of a student who is taking the knowledge gained in the classroom and applying it in a real business setting. It will be interesting to see where Karl’s entrepreneurial spirit leads him as his business grows.”

Duval is from Miami, Florida and resides in Glenville. He is a Business Management Major with a Nonprofit Leadership and Management Minor. He is President of SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) and an active member of the American Humanics Student Association. He is very involved in the community where he volunteers with the Glenville Street Gang.

The Duval’s Dogs To Go cart will be traveling around the fairs and festivals circuit starting with the Calhoun Wood Festival on June 3rd. Instead of hot dogs, he will instead sell breakfast food, fajitas, and tacos at the West Virginia State Folk Festival June 18th through 20th.
