The Glenville State College Pioneer women’s team beat Concord University 111-106. After the Pioneers have lost their last two games they came out tonight on a mission, their mission was one thing and one thing only, that was to win.
The Pioneers had four players score in double figures. Donita Adams went 8-19 from the floor, 4 of 8 from behind the arc, and went an amazing 13 of 14 from the free-throw line, scoring 33 points. She also had a game high 4 steals.
Beth Deren also had a great game scoring 18 points, she shot 60 percent form the floor as well as from behind the arc. Deren also handed out 3 assists for GSC.
Autumn Davis scored 17 points for the Pioneers, and Ginny Petties chipped in with 16 points.
Kristen Golden who is averaging 13.0 points per game was held scoreless on the night, she went 0 for 6 from the floor, but on a positive note she grabbed team high 11 rebounds.
The Pioneers are still having troubles finding their shooting touch; they shoot only 39 percent from the floor and only 36 percent from behind the arc.
With the win it moves the Pioneers into third place in the WVIAC Conference; it also brings their record to 13-8 and 11-6 in the conference play.
Concord was lead by Camisha Alexander with 41 points on the night, with the loss Concord moves into tenth place in the Conference.
The Pioneers return to action Thursday when Bluefield State comes into Jesse R. Lilly Gym, the Pioneers are 6-1 at home this year with their only loss coming last Saturday to Charleston. The last time these two teams meet the Pioneers broke the NCAA record for most three-pointers made in a game, tipoff is set for 5:30PM, come out and support the Lady Pioneers.
