The Glenville State Lady Pioneers snapped a six game slide with a solid victory over the Lady Battlers at Alderson-Broaddus College, tonight at Jesse R. Lilly Gymnasium, 66 to 41. Senior Karina Kendrick recorded her sixth Double-Double of the season with a game high 18 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Christine DiSabato 15 points on six of nine shooting.
Trailing 11-6 at the 11:52 mark, GSC went on a 20-0 run over the next 9 minutes and 30 seconds. Glenville State (4-6, 2-1) held A-B (1-10, 0-4) to 0 of 6 from the field, while forcing 10 turnovers during the run as the Pioneers would hold a 30-16 advantage at the break.
The 2nd half saw Glenville State shoot 47% from the field as they increased their lead to as many as 27 before settling on the final.
Forward Tori Charley led the Battlers with 16 points as she was their only player in double digits.
For the game the Lady Pioneers shot 43% from the field and 33% from the 3pt line, while holding A-B to 31%. Glenville State forced 26 Battlers turnovers while committing a season low 12.
The Lady Pioneers return to action Saturday as they hit the road to take on the Shepherd University Rams in Shepherdstown. Tip Off is at 2:00pm
