The #13th ranked Glenville State Lady Pioneers dropped their first game of the season, a 69-64 setback to the Concord University Mountain Lions. The Lady Lions (3-1, 2-0) used four players in double digits to erase a four point half time deficit. Becca Flanagan led CU with 14 points, and Jame Cluesman and Samm Nester each chipped in 12 points.
The Lady Pioneers (3-1, 1-1) were paced by 19 points from Donita Adams and 18 points from Mallory Menendez.
Concord, trailing 34-31 at the break, went on a 17-5 run over the opening seven minutes of the 2nd half. An Adams’ Jumper and three Karina Kendrick free throws would cut the lead to one at 48-47 with 10:39 to go. However the Lady Lions would counter with a 13-4 run to extend the lead to 10 and put the game out of reach.
Glenville State shot just 39% from the field and 38% from behind the arc, but struggled in the 2nd half shooting just 36% from the field and only connecting of 2 of 8 3pt attempts.
The Lady Pioneers return to action Friday December 7th as they travel to Grand Forks, ND to take on the #1 ranked North Dakota Fighting Sioux. Tipoff is at 6 P.M.
