The Glenville State Women’s Basketball team broke open a four point halftime lead early in the second half and never looked back, as they defeated Lock Haven University, 66-58 tonight on the campus of WV State. The Lady Pioneers were led by Sophomore Donita Adams’ 18 points and seven rebounds and Senior Karina Kendrick’s double double of 15 points and 13 rebounds. Last night’s MVP Mallory Menendez added 13 points.
GSC which led by as many as 14 in the game, used a key 12-0 spurt around the 18 minute mark of the 2nd half to pull away. After Lock Haven tied the game at 35 all, Menendez would hit a 3, followed by a Adams’ layup and put back would quickly make it 42-35 with 16 minutes to play. The Pioneers would not be done, after both teams went scoreless for the next three minutes, Freshman Kristen Golden would hit a layup and Adams’ would cap off the run with a three, to push the lead to 12 at 47-35.
The Pioneers shot 39% from the field and 33% from behind the arc, but they again were plagued by sloppy ball handling, as they committed 28 turnovers.
