Jerry Seymour went over the 200-yard mark for a third consecutive game as Glenville State (3-2, 2-1) downed rival Fairmont State (3-2, 1-2) 23-13. The senior romped for 220 yards on 33 carries as the Pioneers bounced back from last week’s loss to Seton Hill.
Glenville limited Fairmont to nine first downs and 141 yards of total offense. Ryan Jannak racked up three tackles for loss and A.D. Hale set up a short GSC touchdown drive with a 30-yard interception return.
The Pioneers led 16-0 at the break. Seymour and James McCants had first quarter touchdown rushes and Alex Amick added a 25-yard second quarter field goal.
Fairmont State accounted for the third quarter’s lone score as Vick Bradford hooked up with Travis Hawthorne on a 31-yard to touchdown pass to cut the deficit to 16-6.
Seymour pushed the Glenville lead back to 23-6 with a seven-yard rush at the 11:30 mark. FSU ended the scoring when Bradford completed a 15-yard scoring strike to Stephan Johnson.
Bradford rushed for 49 yards to pace the Falcon attack, but was limited to 6-for-16 through the air for only 48 yards. Nate and Luke Black each had ten tackles for FSU.
Glenville, which accounted for 23 first downs and 347 yards of total offense, saw McCants complete 10 of 24 passes for 117 yards. Antwarn Stewart had four receptions for a team-high 60 yards.
