Any full-time GSC student who has an idea for a business is encouraged to enter the 6th annual West Virginia Statewide Collegiate Business Plan Competition (WVSCBPC).

The WVSCBPC is hosted by West Virginia University’s Entrepreneurship Center in the College of Business and Economics. The competition affords college students around the state the unique opportunity to make a business idea come to life with the support of state institutions of higher education and seasoned business professionals from around the country.

The goal of the competition is to provide students with the education, skills, contacts, and motivation necessary to create a viable start-up company in West Virginia.  Two grand prize packages consisting of $10,000 cash, accounting, legal, and virtual or physical incubator space are awarded to the top team in each category.

Interested students should contact GSC Associate Professor of Vocational Business Cinda Echard in Louis Bennett Hall room 243 or at cinda.echard@glenville.edu or by calling (304) 462-6257.  GSC students must register and submit a first-draft of their business plan to Echard or GSC Professor of Business Cheryl McKinney by 12:30 p.m. on September 20, 2011. A three to five page final draft business plan must be submitted by noon on September 27, 2011. Students do not have to be business majors to enter the competition.

Business plans entered by GSC students have advanced to the finals of the competition in three of the last four years.
