The Lady Pioneers found themselves down early as American International took a quick 5-0 lead in the first few minutes of the game, but GSC would storm back and knot the game at 10 apiece at the 15:45 mark in the first half.
The teams battled back and fourth throughout the first half, with the biggest lead being only five points. The Lady Pioneers however managed to take the lead heading into half time at 46-45 as Mishae Miles hit a lay-up for GSC near the buzzer.
After halftime, the two squads continued to battle back and forth; but after Ginny Pettis hit a three point basket at the 14:13 mark for GSC, they began to pull away. Pettis’ basket put The Pioneers up by eight at that point.
The Lady Pioneers would go on to win by a final score of 95-76.
GSC was led by Danielle Woodmore as she poured in a game high 24 points. She also had 4 assists, and a game high five steals.
Tenisha Wilson scored 18 points for the Lady Pioneers, while Mishae Miles just missed a double-double as she tallied 18 points and grabbed a team high 9 rebounds. Ginny Petties also scored in double figures for GSC as she put in 10 markers.
America International was led by Michelle Lafond’s 22 points, while Rhea Pascal posted a double-double as she scored 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Erica Johnson led the team in assists with five assists.
The Lady Pioneers will battle Bellarmine in the United Electric Tip-Off Classic Championship at 5:00PM Saturday, November 12th.
