Bluefield, WV – The Glenville State men’s basketball team picked up a WVIAC Conference win over Bluefield State Thursday night by a final of 97-71.
The Pioneers jump out to an early 11-0 lead at the 17:25 mark in the first half after Jamel Morris drilled a deep three pointer.
The Blues would battle back but only get as close as three points in the game. The Pioneers took a six point lead 48-42 into halftime.
In the second half it was all about the Pioneers from there on out as they cruised to a 26 point victory 97-71 over the Blues.
The Pioneers shot 48 percent from the floor for the game while they held Bluefield State to only 39 percent shooting. GSC also had a huge advantage on the boards as they out rebounded the Blues 52 to 34.
The Pioneers never trailed in the game.
GSC was led by Jamel Morris as he scored 24 points; Kevin Gray scored 22, while Andy Dollman scored 15 points on the night. Nate Cash chipped in with 10 points while Chris Abney just missed a double double as he scored nine points and grabbed a game high 12 rebounds.
Bluefield State was led by Chase Morgan with 15 points, Johnny Uhegwu scored 13 points, and Alex Webb chipped in with 12 points.
The Pioneers return to action Saturday when they travel to Fairmont for a huge WVIAC rivalry. Game time is set for 4:00PM.
