Fairmont, WV – The Glenville State Men’s basketball team picked up a huge road win over the Fairmont State Fighting Falcons on Saturday by a score of 75-59.
The Fighting Falcons built a nine point lead 23-14 half way through the first half but the Pioneers would not roll over as they would tie the game at 26 all with 3:25 left to play in the first half on a Mark Walker jumper.
The Pioneers would break the tie as they took a one point lead into halftime 29-28.
In the second half it was all Pioneers from there on out, they never trailed in the rest of the game as they cruised to a 75-59 victory.
GSC bench out scored the Fighting Falcons bench 36 to 10.
Newcomer Marcus Ashton had a big impact on the game, when he checked in for the Pioneers at the 14:16 mark the whole game changed.
Ashton led the Pioneers with a game high 25 points while Andy Dollman and Jamel Morris both chipped in with 10 points each. Nate Cash dished out a team high of three assists, while Chris Abney pulled down nine rebounds.
Fairmont State was led by Steve Custis with 18 points and eight rebounds. Isaac Thornton chipped in with 11 points and dished out three assists.
The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday night when Alderson-Broaddus travels to Glenville. Game time is set for 7:30PM.
