Glenville State commemorates graduates

By Cheyenne Moore

Recently, Glenville State College announced the cancellation of their traditional commencement ceremonies. As a result, Glenville will be commemorating its graduates with a nontraditional ceremony to give those who were supposed to walk the recognition they deserve.

When I reached out to Dr. Kathleen Nelson, she sent me to

Dustin Crutchfield, the Director of Marketing and Public Information, explained that the plan for the May 2020 commencement is underway and will be broadcasted through social media on May 9, the original date. However, if the virtual celebration isn’t quite what you're looking for, students are welcome to return for the December 2020 or May 2021 ceremonies as well. Students from each department will be recognized individually, as they would in the traditional ceremony. As the student is recognized, their name, degree, and academic honors statusvwill be displayed.

Crutchfield states “Prospective graduates have received a few emails informing them of these plans. They have also been invited to send us other items to customize their information with a photo, caption, and quote.”

There are other proposals to honor these graduates as well. Please stay tuned for additional information leading up to the ceremonies.
