Fine Arts Atrium

The Fine Arts Center Spears Art Gallery at Glenville State University is a center for the visual arts where visitors gather to enjoy changing exhibitions, music, lectures, poetry readings, and receptions. Housed within the beautiful Fine Arts Building, the Spears Gallery is a 13' X 24' dedicated space with versatile lighting and power options for a variety of exhibitors. 

Within the Fine Arts Building is a large atrium area for receptions and performance as well as one of the largest auditoriums in West Virginia. With seating for over 500, the Fine Arts Auditorium has a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system, projection screen, and large stage for presentations, performances, and discussions. The Fine Arts Building also has a smaller recital hall with theater style seating for 100, large projection and sound system, and customizable lighting for smaller presentations and lectures.

Glenville State University campus welcomes visitors throughout the academic year and is open to students, faculty members, and the general public free of charge.

Call for Entries

The Glenville State College Department of Fine Arts Center Gallery actively seeks proposals/exhibition applications for exhibitions and/or presentations. Applicants must submit the following information.

  • Letter describing the exhibit/project proposed for the Gallery. Please include sketched and installation diagrams when appropriate.
  • Resume(s) of applicants and collaborators.
  • Sample images for the work being exhibited (JPEG's or PowerPoint). Only work that will be exhibited should be included in the proposal.
  • Contact information: email and telephone number.
  • Self-Addresses, stamped envelope, for return of documentation if necessary.

Review Criteria

Proposals will be reviewed by Gallery Personnel with the goals of the Gallery in mind; considerations include but are not limited to:

  • Uniqueness of project
  • Community outreach and educational opportunities
  • Professionalism and artistic merit of proposal
  • Collaborative and multidisciplinary projects
  • Scheduling flexibility
  • Work that has not been shown in the Fine Arts Gallery
    (within the last three semesters)

Please be patient with the GSC Gallery staff. Each proposal will be reviewed and responded to in a timely manner.
